It all started off as an initial donation of funds to Kids In Need for every specified Volkswagen sold in the months of August and September 2022. The Ebbett Volkswagen WE LOVE VW team then found out that Kids In Need were actually saving for a very much needed Van. This was the start of a great relationship, understanding what a vital role this very important charity do for our wider Waikato community. Linda and Graeme Roil work day in and day out helping hundreds of children families and wider Whanau through creating care packs to kids in need, which are personalized to meet each child’s needs. This includes children placed into foster care and grandparents raising grandchildren. Kids in need can be anywhere from 0-17years and the packs created are personalized to the child’s age, size and interests.
Kids In Need was initially set up in 2014 but grew to a project size that quickly took over Linda and Graeme’s home. In 2017 through generous donations and some crowdfunding, they purchased a container to start housing all the goods donated. Within the first 6 months of the container’s arrival, they then had to upscale and have a purpose-built storage unit created. All this time, Linda and Graeme have been running the charity from their property on the outskirts of Cambridge.
By 2022, Kids In Need have created over 1,000 packs to support families within the Waikato. With such a large number of people needing to be supported, additional vehicles were required, as these packs are delivered all over the region. This is where the WE LOVE VW team have stepped in and helped.
You will now see the new Kids In Need Volkswagen Transporter Van and the all-new Amarok Ute on the road, driving throughout the Waikato helping many families.
